App Rules
AU VERSIONS OF CHARACTERS, OCs and doubles/facetwins are allowed. With regards to the last point, if someone is already IN with a character and you want to double you have to contact that player, the doubles have to be different in some form or another. This rule also applies to facetwins, getting permission from the existing player is important!
PREVIOUS RP CHARACTERS are not currently allowed, but will be two months after the game has opened. This is to hopefully create a strong base of CR between 'fresh' game characters before characters with more meta knowledge and established CR can enter.
THERE IS NO AGE LIMIT to the characters but please keep in mind this game will have SEX and VIOLENCE and TORTURE as well as many situations where agency or consent are taken away (as is the nature of the NPC run games and of the entire game premise).
PLAYER AGE needs to be 18+, please see the above point. We're holding with fiction =/= reality, but as a mod I'd just prefer all players be adults IRL. Thanks.
ACTIVITY will be tallied on a MONTHLY basis. A pass is 2 threads, one with a family member and one other, each with 15 comments contributed by your character.
HIATUS can go for ONE MONTH. If you feel you can't make AC and are past your hiatus quota, feel free to drop and reapp on the next app cycle.

Powers: Persona! The ability to travel to the cognitive world and alter people's hearts from the inside. He also has abilities that are unique to him; most notably, the ability to make people go into a sort of berserker state.
I assume being able to go into heart game mode at any given time is way too OP for an RP, but I was thinking maybe he could keep his Persona as a headmonster/Stand type of thing that's summonable in the real world, if that works.

History: Here is a brief writeup of her story! Mind the content warning, please.
Personality: Rosa, at this stage of her 'life,' runs pretty hot-and-cold socially. At base, she’s a brightly demonstrative, talkative and outgoing girl who likes to meet other people and learn about them. She's been starved for social interaction for a long time and will grasp for it eagerly. She has a lot of feelings and she wants to share them! That's in multiple senses: it's very nice to be feeling a plethora of positive and neutral things instead of just being stuck in a grief, rage, resentment and regret rut; and it's also nice to be able to physically touch things and feel them and mess with them, period. This can make her come across as a bit too optimistic and overeager sometimes, a little off, though she's usually willing to cool it and talk it out if politely called out.
That said, she's easily overstimulated and overwhelmed at this stage of her new life too, in the physical and emotional senses. She's also easily embarrassed and not really able to hide it; horribly stubborn if she disagrees with someone; and has a terribly hot temper if you get her going. The first thing she lost as a ghost was social graces, and she’s remembered some of them via coexisting with Jan for a while and regaining some memories, but the process is not complete, so she can be bad at tactfully removing herself from conversations and social situations when they make her mad or uncomfortable, or stepping away from unwinnable fights.
Her sense of humor is pretty robust, but can run to the morbid side for obvious reasons. It's hard to faze her with gross/creepy anecdotes or visuals as well. She's got a few serious lingering sore spots regarding past and family and straight up not knowing things, though -- maybe 70% of her old memories remain missing at this point, and she's highly aware that she's largely a fish out of water in the living/modern world. She's mellowed out enough, though, that it's likelier for her to excitably chatter past that discomfort rather than her old recourse, which was to try and smother the person who brought it up and/or write threatening ectoplasmic messages on their mirrors. Thank goodness.
Powers: Morphologic instability. She remembers her human form and tries to stay in that shape most of the time, but she's still much more used to the monstrous shape she was wearing for most of the last century, and mood shifts may cause shapeshifting. Her hair might fluff up into feathers when she's embarrassed, or she might pop out extra eyes if she's feeling paranoid, or she might blort into a mass of teeth and tentacles and wings if she gets badly angered or defensive. This ability is double-edged: being able to grow extra arms or a whole lot of extra eyes or natural weapons is great, but as she's now corporeal and gravity/physics apply, having surprise extra/displaced mass is a problem and likely to just make her fall over until she reverses it. Excessive shapeshifting burns up energy, and she needs to eat and sleep a lot if she overdoes it.
She can still see other ghosts, though not touch them. She also has a slight psychic bond with Jan which lets her vaguely sense Jan's location and powerful emotions. To people who can sense the dead she pings as 'what the fuck?'
On the mundane side, she's a pretty good housekeeper, gardener and cook, can sew and embroider, has a solid understanding of computers and internet, and plays a mean game of solitaire.

Character Info Louis is from a human-less, furry world, where herbivores and carnivores struggle to live side by side. The fact that carnivores eat poor, underserved, or just unlucky herbivores is a known but unspoken part of society, and Louis was born into that society as livestock. Fortunately for him, a rich but infertile red deer needed to find a son to adopt and picked Louis out age 5 after seeing
how crazy he ishis pride and zeal for life.Louis can probably best be described as defensively prideful. His father was not cruel but also was neither kind nor loving, so Louis has lived most of his life feeling that he is weak, unwanted, and must work ten times harder than anyone to prove himself and never show weakness. He does not believe anyone genuinely supports or likes him, but wears a mask of confidence, grace, and nobility that makes him quite popular in highschool.
It's far from a perfect mask, though. His insecurities can slip through, particularly when he feels threatened and then dials it up to 11, out to out-aggro whatever the perceived threat is. Tiger teammate scratches you lightly in attempt to show dominance? Catch him alone and hold a gun to his head and make him get on his knees to dominate him utterly. Frustrated that a clearly superior wolf is acting like a goddamn pussy? Stick your hand in his mouth and demand he fucking bite you like a man.
Louis strives to appear normal and collected and adult and calm, but under the surface he's a constant roil of self loathing and inferiority complexes that fuel him to be more full of shit so that no one ever notices.
In general, his deep seeded sense of worthlessness that he associates with his delicate herbivore body leads to a fixation on, and eventual infatuation with, carnivores. He finds he only feels comfortable and himself when surrounded by dangerous predators, whether it's hanging out with a wolf who ate his leg once, or a pride of lions who strongarmed him into becoming their mafia boss only to fall in love with him. He pretends to be hard and while he is, truly, capable of great coldness, he is terribly soft on the people he cares about and getting softer all the time as he slowly comes to be more accepting of his lot in life.
This does not mean he doesn't still dial it up to 11 with his dramatic deer bullshit, he just starts to do it for the causes of supporting his friends and changing society than because he felt bad someone might notice that he kind of sucks.

Character Info
Zol was an orphan who was taken in at a young age by Master Fusa, the mayor of the city he lives in, and taught/groomed to be a bounty hunter. While Fusa did treat Zol well to his face, he deliberately isolated Zol and kept him from learning certain skills (such as counting money) in order to keep him dependent on and loyal to Fusa himself. Shinigami of the East starts when Zol is in his early-to-mid 20s, living alone but still performing bounty hunter work for Fusa under the guise of "cleaning up the city" and working towards his own personal goal-- using the money he provides to Fusa from his bounties to free the people segregated to the city's slums.
This is, of course, a huge red flag for a sudden yet inevitable betrayal resulting in an overthrown government and the adoption of a new, much healthier found family and growing into his role as a Natural Born Dad, but in the meantime-- due to the unique circumstances he was raised in, Zol is a strange mix of undersocialized yet formal; sheltered yet world-weary. He puts great stake in concepts like honor, manners, and cleanliness, but only as far as he understands them-- he'll lecture people on respecting their elders and his language is somewhat formal when he speaks in more than curt sentences, but he's also fairly blunt, demanding, and short-tempered.
Keeping in mind that bounty-hunting is legal in his country, he almost comes across as the traditional arrogant-but-knightly Lawful Good sort: bold, straightforward, earnest, dedicated to doing what he believes is right and making sure that others do the same, but with a black-and-white worldview that makes him easily critical of others and a little intolerant of things that he doesn't understand. (Which is a lot, considering how deliberately sheltered his upbringing was, and Zol therefore has a bad habit of assuming he knows more about people's circumstances and options than he truly can, and mouthing off without consideration of that.)
However, things are actually a little bit more gray for Zol than he lets on. While he obeys his master without outward question, he hates killing, and tries to avoid people that he believes to be especially "good," feeling that he would taint them with his presence. After being trained to repress his emotions and empathy for his work as an assassin, he has no idea how to recognize his own feelings-- he represses his guilt, questions why someone would try to seek his friendship, and pushes away the few people who do, unable to accept their kindness or act on his own feelings of affection.
Ultimately, however, despite his own self-perception as a lone wolf, Zol is someone that does crave connections with others. He allows a down-on-his-luck stranger to crash at his house, all the while griping about how strange the guy is; he flusters and yells at being called a friend, but tells his love interest with utter straight-faced sincerity that he'll keep her handmade charm "at his side for the rest of his life"; and he insists he's just doing his duty when he brings old women in the slums groceries and medicine every week. He's blunt and unpracticed with caring about people, prone to criticism, snapping, and over-serious staredowns when he's NOT snapping, but he's ultimately unable to keep himself from helping the people around him, whether he understands them or not.
Powers: A normal human but with like shounen-level exaggerated fighting skills/strength/general athleticism etc.; he is pretty overpowered in the realm of "normal human" but has no actual supernatural abilities. He's also a skilled carpenter so that's cool.

Character Info Margaux was born as a peasant and developed magic, leading to her adoption by the magocracy of her home nation, Torrim. She grew up as a noble until, at ten years old, the Tower that adopted her was purged by the emperor. This left her as the sole survivor of Tower Ivoire; she pledged her allegiance to the emperor to stay alive. Now she's a Torrine envoy/spy in the foreign city of Astrum, trying to find a way to destroy the emperor, and has taken the name "Leclerc." She has joined the witchfinder corps of Astrum, meaning that her left eye has been replaced by a steampunk prosthetic with magic powers and she hunts down magical criminals.
Margaux is friendly, kindhearted, and gentle when interacting with most people. She's also ruthless in her job as a witchfinder and nearly insane with her lust for revenge. She will do almost literally anything to get her way when it matters. She's a good liar and actress and has essentially split her identity in three. There's Margaux de Joyeuse, the cruel noble she pretends to be at home, Margaux Leclerc, the witchfinder she is in Astrum, and Margaux L'Ivoire, the remnants of her soft side.
Powers: her magic primarily takes the form of red and golden threads that she summons which can cut and grab things, puppet people, etc. Her magical/mechanical eye can do all sorts of nifty shit. It can record things she sees, emit antimagic bursts, try to fascinate or people stun who look at it—basically a lot of little spells.

They are the dystopian element in a near-utopian world, murdering innocent people for the sake of keeping things politically stable, but their outsider position just makes their passion for protecting the world more fervent. They recognize that most people think what they do is monstrous, but they’re proud to do it because somebody has to, and it has been a vital role in keeping peace on Earth for 400 years. They love their world, their Hive, and they want humankind to thrive and be free as possible. They will sacrifice anything, including themself, for that cause.
In short, Sniper is passionate, principled, and has a huge inferiority complex they ignore by making people fall in love with them en masse and committing wholeheartedly to the belief that being a murderer will save the world.

Jou is a normal human with a somewhat elevated luck stat and (apparently?) an abnormally good sense of smell. While at heart he's a sweet boy with more loyalty and devotion than sense, life has done its best to beat that out of him. When we first meet Jou, he appears to be little more than a low-class, slacking bully - he picks on Yugi because he's small and kind (as Jou later tells Yugi - it pissed him off to see someone so trusting, because he knows how rough life can be to someone like that); he sleeps through classes; and his second hand clothes, rough accent, and complete lack of manners make him quite the stand-out pariah in his Japanese highschool.
However, it's not that Jou doesn't care - it's just that he's been forced to have a different set of priorities than his peers. After his parents divorced when he was in grade school - his mother taking his beloved younger sister, moving far away, and forbidding any contact between them - Jou was basically left to raise himself. His father was more of a hindrance than a help, too lost in alcohol and gambling addiction to be any kind of father, and by the time Jou is in high school their relationship appears to be downright abusive. Things like nice clothes and proper manners aren't as important to Jou as keeping a roof over his small family's head, and he sleeps through classes because he's one of the few students who's been approved for a part-time job: a paper route he's kept since middle school. He's most certainly not a slacker; any time he is given a chance to prove himself, or improve his life circumstances, he jumps at it and gives it his all.
The same can be said of friendship - when given a chance at friendship, he jumps, going all-in on that devotion and loyalty. And having that pay off - his kindness reciprocated, his friends appreciating his contributions - rather than the constant put-downs life has thrown at him, lets Jounouchi flourish.
I'll be taking Jou from early season zero, right around when he meets Yugi but before any card game nonsense-- he's starting to get his feet under him as a kind, supportive person, but he's still unpracticed at it and is more prone to resort to violence to solve problems. He also has very specific loyalty at this point in his life - eventually he learns to assume the best of strangers and reach out with a helping hand of his own, but at this point he's mostly loyal only to those who have shown the same to him.

The Shinomiya family owns one of the largest business conglomerates in Japan, with more than two hundred trillion yen of assets. Shinomiya Kaguya therefore attends an incredibly prestigious high school, where she serves as the vice president of the student council. There, she and student council president Shirogane are engaged in a war of love and brains as they come up with elaborate schemes to try to trick or force the other to confess their love. After all, while they would certainly date each other given the chance, confessing means showing weakness and opening themselves to being hurt, so they can't be the one to do it first.
Kaguya herself had an incredibly sheltered and emotionally distant upbringing. Her mother died when she was young, and although it's a secret to most, she was actually an illegitimate child, so her status in the family is somewhat questionable. Her father barely speaks to her; the family's servants fulfill all her needs and prevent her from being exposed to most of the world. Until she started to warm to the student council, she was cold and standoffish, and didn't believe there were any actually good people in the world.
Shirogane is a good person, of course, but one of the reasons he loves Kaguya is that she chooses to do good things despite it not coming naturally to her, which he thinks is much more meaningful. He also admires her skills and intelligence; she has earned awards in performing arts, music, and martial arts, and she's quick-witted under pressure. The only arena where he has managed to beat her is grades, where Shirogane's dedication to studying wins out over her natural talents.
Now, Kaguya has an internal battle happening between her cold, ruthless and rational side and her innocent, straightforward and affectionate side. On one hand, she has a lot of genuinely serious family issues to consider; Shirogane is a commoner, and practically it would make things very difficult if her father learned she was dating him. On the other, she has a deep desire for love, friendship, and perhaps especially family. She gets just as excited about the prospect of Shirogane Kei, the president's younger sister, being her younger sister, as she does any other fantasy about their future together.

Ah, ahem, that is... I just need to sell this item, right? That's simple enough.
Are you looking for a gift for a special someone? Someone you'd like to see publicly embarrassed, perhaps? Then this is perfect.
The gift would need to be anonymous. But at first glance, it's innocuous. Everyone has thrown one of these before, right? Well, real weapons are forbidden at school, of course, so the first reaction might be alarm... then the logical assumption would be that it's a prop weapon from the drama club. They'll let their guard down with that, and just express their confusion over why someone would gift it to them. That will draw everyone's attention.
When everyone has begun hypothesizing and trying to gather clues, that's when the moment of weakness will appear. He'll—they'll examine the packaging, and slowly realize the true purpose. Then they'll have to conceal their embarrassment in front of everyone, and figure out how to explain the issue. Will they act like it's a normal item to recognize? Or play dumb and have to acknowledge their ignorance if someone else figures it out?
Isn't seeing what they'll do in that moment worth any amount of money...?

It was ruled over by a giant crow beast, until the ‘ghost’ of Mitsuba Sousuke was thrown in.
Growing up, Mitsuba was bullied for being a cocky, sarcastic brat. He’s selfish, confident, and brags about his good looks while not being afraid to insult others. As you may expect, this meant he didn’t have many friends. In middle school he was determined to make friends by being a well behaved gentle boy who could get along with anyone. Unfortunately, this just meant nobody really noticed him and he never made an impression until the day he died. After making a deal with the wrong guy, Mitsuba came back as a ghost, made a friend, and then got ripped apart and turned into a monster. The guy he made a deal with gathered up the remains of his destroyed spirit and frankensteined him together out of other soul fragments to make a new ‘Mitsuba’, who looked and acted like the original but was someone completely different. And then he ripped out the heart of the aforementioned crow beast and force-fed it to him to make Mitsuba the new Hell of Mirrors.
As a School Mystery, Mitsuba has the power to pull people into his mirror world, travel through mirrors, access the ‘memories’ of mirrors to show anything that happened in front of them, and control the creepy arms that run around pulling others in. He has a weird exoskeleton scarf that can manifest giant arms with incredible strength to attack.
Despite his newfound status as a ghost monster, Mitsuba is a coward and a crybaby who would prefer to run from every fight. His personality is still cocky and sarcastic, but he’s an extremely lonely boy who just wants to be a normal school kid and make friends, jealous of even the loneliness the real Mitsuba felt because at least people could see him. He doesn’t like fighting, or seeing other people hurt, if he can he’ll try to help others in trouble but he’s just as likely to turn tail and run when things look scary. His desperation to be human and escape from his loneliness means Mitsuba is very easily manipulated and taken advantage of, but he’s fine with that tbh. Luckily he keeps getting convinced to try by the power of friendship.

Character Info
The Sea Emperor is a giant psychic squid monster from the bottom of the ocean on planet 4546B. About 1600 years ago, some alien species visited her planet, having reason to believe that her species could cure their horrible space plague. Obviously, this plan went right to shit. Instead of curing their own space plague, they infected her planet with it and left her in a giant fishbowl with the last of her eggs.
She kind of wanted to die but instead stuck around to look after her eggs. She made a her fishbowl into a sort of undersea eden, where predators didn’t need to prey, and plants from every ecosystem could grow together. She had a lot of time on her hands. Finally, the Player Character could help her hatch her eggs and cure the planet's space plague! Hooray, because by then she was REAL ready to die.
Despite ALL OF THAT SHIT, she remains pretty chill and friendly. Even having been so screwed over by the last alien explorer, she decides she wants to make friends with the next ones to show up. She offers encouragement and help while they are going through some Major Shit to reach her. When they finally show up, she wants to play with them. Basically, she just wants a bit of companionship and help before the end.
For a sea monster, she has a very philosophical soul. She ruminates on the differences in the various sapient species she has met, and has spent a long time contemplating her own looming death. She talks in lots of ocean metaphors.

Per his public persona he is the Lord of All Coins- using an uncanny skill at trading to net a small fortune on cryptocurrency.
In "meat space" he is a depressed shithead mess.
At 16, Walt Roberton was a moody goth, ready to to be an anime protagonist and then die. He had all the right components: depression, dating his childhood best friend, a mall katana. He was a decent artist, student of history and political science, naturally skilled writer, and blessed by a strong general disregard for social propriety. He was told, over and over, that he could be anything he wanted. And he wanted. To be. An anime protagonist.
At 18, his girlfriend she died a very mundane, stupid death. That was enough to shake him out of his fantasies, but he still had no interest at all in engaging with the real world.
Instead he shut himself away in his mothers’ basement, living exclusively through the internet. He had a good head for markets, and made a small fortune investing in crypto currency. While he used that money to do a lot of good for a lot of people, he still couldn't see himself as "good," but rather a nigh-insignificant counter weight to the grief of the world.

Character Info
Shiho Miyano was a child prodigy born to two scientists caught up in an underground organized crime network, the Black Organization. When her parents "mysteriously" died in a """lab fire""", the Black Org took Shiho in to groom her to continue her parents' work. This went as planned until Shiho was 18 and the Black Org killed her beloved sister, Akemi, and she refused to work for them any further. Knowing that the Org was going to kill her, she decided to take a poison of her own making to die on her own terms-- and ended up regressing physically to around 7 years old instead. She escapes and tracks down the titular similarly-shrunken Detective Conan, whose goal is to bring the Black Org down, and begins her new life as "Ai Haibara."
As for personality, as much as Ai hates the Black Org that raised her, in some ways she's still very much the product of her upbringing. She can be world-weary, sardonic and morbid in turns, often dwelling on topics like death or humanity's natural selfishness both because they genuinely reflect her worldview and to make other people uncomfortable, and she has a basic level of mistrust in others. She likes to tease the people around her (at times to the point of cruelty), and she can definitely be bossy and critical, sometimes playfully and sometimes snappish. That being said, she tends to hang back and observe as the "mature and mysterious 7-year-old" around the people that she doesn't know well-- but that's more for self-preservation than personality, as she becomes increasingly opinionated and more likely to chat, jab, and question as the series goes on.
But she's not all doom and smirking condescension. As our idealistic do-gooder main character starts to rub off on her, Ai does develop a strong protective streak toward the people she comes to care about, and has a soft side even outside her desire to protect her friends. She happily takes on a bit of a big sister role to the children in her and Conan's group of actual-first-graders friends, she turns into the picture of an actual first grader herself around animals, and she has a genuinely familial-like relationship with the man who took in "Ai." It takes her a bit to warm up to people, given the inherent danger in becoming close to anyone when she's in hiding from the Org, but when it does happen, they might see a little bit of the actual teenager in there. She likes pop music, she's an avid fangirl for her soccer idol, she reads fashion magazines, and she can get flustered over the boy she likes-- despite her cynical airs, when she's not being forced to be either mature or immature beyond her years, there's a seed of someone ready to embrace a new life as a normal girl in there.
